Batman: Arkham City is the sequel to Arkham Asylum, set a year and a half later. Gotham's mayor, Quincy Sharp, builds Arkham City, an open-air prison, and enforces strict control. Batman, sent there as Bruce Wayne, fights against the corruption from within. The plot involves Joker's infection with the Titan formula and Protocol 10. Iconic characters like Catwoman, Mr. Freeze, Rā's al Ghūl, and Clayface appear.

The game features an open-world environment with combat, stealth, and puzzles. Batman has various melee moves, gadgets, and improved abilities like the grappling hook while gliding and an expanded gadget arsenal. Detective mode aids in forensic puzzles, and secondary quests involve collecting Riddler trophies.

Additionally, players can control Catwoman, with unique combat and stealth abilities, and the console versions support 3D mode.
